TVSFPE Members and Friends,

The Tennessee Valley Chapter held its monthly meeting on February 8, 2007.  Sixteen members, chapter friends, visitors attended.  Our speaker, Mr. Ken Dungan of Risk Technology, discussed Fire Alarm System Reliability as a Performance Measure.

Mr. Dungan discussion described how reliability is designed into components and systems. The roles of the design professional, the equipment manufacturer, the testing laboratories and the installers were outlined to clarify responsibilities.

During the Treasure’s report, Brent Albertson presented a summary of the balances in the TVSFPE accounts.

There were a few announcements which included Rob Deschambeault forming his own new company Fyre TeK Engineering, and Rodney Barnes leaving Y-12 to move to the other side of the fence and join NNSA.  We also welcomed tow new Y-12 employees Sam Barrack and Mike Friedl.  We would also like to welcome Nick Riggs.  Mr. Riggs is a recent graduate from Easter Kentucky University’s Fire Protection Program.

I want to let everyone know that the John D. Hoogesteger Memorial Scholarship application is now available on the TVSFPE website.  If you know of a student who would be interested let them know we are taking applications.

It is that time of the year again, membership dues.  Dues are requested by April 14.

If anyone has suggestions on new meeting locations, topics, or other items please let me know.

I would like to apologize for being absent for the meeting.  I have tried to plan my travel schedule around the meetings however this month I was not successful.  Hopefully I will be able all meeting in the future.
