President’s Pen – November 2007

We met for our November meeting at the Sagebrush Steakhouse in Oak Ridge, with a total of 16 members and guests attending. Barry Cooper from Atlanta had to get the award for the furthest distance travelled. The speakers were our very own Ken Dungan and Dave McAfee. Ken and Dave discussed current trends and breaking news in the NFPA standards process, concentrating primarily on the Lightning Protection, Fire Alarm, and Power Plant fire protection standards.

Business discussions were brief – the SFPE logo pins have been ordered and should be received shortly. Members will be getting information soon on how they can get one, and the cost. The nominating committee indicated that all the current officers had agreed to serve another year in their current position. The motion was made and seconded that the incumbent slate be re-elected by acclamation. All present were in favor, and the motion passed.

Sincerely,

Jim Kern
